Marilyn grew up playing basketball & volleyball but ended up loving volleyball overall. Originally from Kaneohe, HI - she played within the PAL leagues before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada.

When she wasyoung she began her club volleyball journey with Nevada Juniors in 2004-2006, Club Vegas from 2006-2009 & finished her club career with CSA (Complete Student Athlete) from 2010-2011.

Marilyn played for Silverado HS from 2008-2011 alongside her sisters, Rebecca & Kayla. Her overall record during her time with the Skyhawks is 51-5 as a 4-year Varsity letter athlete while earning various accolades during her time at Silverado HS from Honorable Mention (2007), 2nd All-Region Team (2008,2009), 1st All-Region Team (2010), 2x Regional Champion (2007 & 2008), and 2x State Champion (2007 & 2009).

Marilyn was also a part of the USAV/High Performance teams and competed in Arizona, Florida & their Global Challenge games – Croatia, Montenegro & Italy.

Upon graduating from Silverado, Marilyn was recruited to play volleyball at a Feather River College (FRC /JuCo) in Quincy, CA under the direction of Sarah Ritchie. During her time at FRC, she was the only player to participate in all 90 games as a freshman & sophomore setter. Her overall record during her time with the Golden Eagles is 53-11. She earned All-State, All Nor-Cal, and All-American accolades by the AVCA. She was also a 2x Golden Valley Conference Champion & a 2xMVP for the Golden Valley Conference.

Once her time with FRC came to an end, she was recruited & received a Full-Ride Scholarship to play at the NCAA Division 1 level for Grand Canyon University (GCU) in the Western Athletic Conference (WAC).

In the beginning of her career, Marilyn was taught to play all around. The emphasis on being a “volleyball player” was something that all her coaches pushed for. Her positional focus (libero & setter)
started during the end of her HS career. She was well known for being able to adapt to any position her coaches had her play because of being an all-around player.

Marilyn started her coaching journey in 2014 with CSA of Nevada & SECTA HS. She has experience working with all skill level from ages 10-18. She was an integral part that helped SECTA get to the
Regional & State playoffs for the first time in school history.

Outside of volleyball, she really enjoys traveling, Jiu jitsu, working out, being outdoors, and most importantly spending time with her kids & husband!
