About Us

Stacy Sykora is a two-time All American, a three-time Olympian, a Silver Medalist, Texas Sports Hall of Famer, Texas A & M Sports Hall of Famer and USA Medal of Honor recipient. She is most well known for her passionate and dynamic play as a Libero, which has won her many fans globally. 

Stacy was a trailblazer as the first to ever play the Libero position for the US Women’s Volleyball team, setting a high-standard for those who followed. Her career didn’t start out as a Libero though. At Texas A&M she played three sports. She was an outside hitter on the women's volleyball team earning All-American honors twice. She also played basketball for the Aggies. Her freshman year she ran track and field and was the Southwest Conference champion in the heptathlon.

Stacy played with the U.S. Women’s National Volleyball Team for 15 years garnering many awards. At the 2000 Olympic Games she was awarded Best Passer; at the 2004 Olympic Games she earned Best Defender, and at the 2008 Olympic Games she won a silver medal with Team USA. In 2010, she was awarded Best Libero and Best Defender at the World Championships and was named USA Volleyball Player of the Year.

Stacy also played professionally overseas for 12 years in; Italy, Russia, Spain, and Brazil.

In 2011, the USA team was #1 in the world and Stacy was on track to compete in her 4th Olympics. She headed to Brazil to play in the Brazilian Professional Volleyball League with Volei Futuro. On April 12, 2011, 10 days before she was scheduled to return to the US to prepare fro the Olympics, Stacy was traveling with her team to a match when the bus overturned. Stacy experienced head trauma and was in a coma for four days and paralyzed for five. She initially was given a 20% chance of survival. Stacy overcame great odds, and more than a month in the hospital, to return to the United States with hopes to rejoin the U.S. National Team and compete in the 2012 Olympic Games. However, due to her brain damage, portions of her vision never fully recovered and she was forced to retire as a professional athlete. 

In 2013, Stacy started coaching with USA Volleyball High Performance National Team Programs working with the United States' top youth athletes. She spent two years working with the USA Select A1 National Training Team Program (USA U16 National Team) before accepting a position as an assistant for the 2015 U.S. Women’s Junior National Team, which won a gold medal at the 2015 European Global Challenge in Croatia. In 2016, she served as assistant coach for the U.S. Girls’ Youth National Team that won a silver medal at the 2016 Girls' U18 NORCECA Championship in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Stacy served as the on-air analyst for the FIVB (Federation Internationale de Volleyball) World Championships in 2014 and has represented USA Volleyball at countless events over the years. She has delivered powerful inspirational speeches to teams, corporations, and groups of all sizes. Stacy is known for her incredible energy, powerful positive message, and ability to connect with athletes and people of all ages and walks of life.

Stacy was born and raised in Burleson, Texas where she attended Burleson High School. She was highly recruited as a 5A, four-sport, all-state athlete:  volleyball, basketball, track, and cross country. She currently lives in Las Vegas, Nevada and serves as an agent to players on the U.S. Women's National Team playing overseas. She is passionate about inspiring people and giving back to the volleyball community that shaped her life.
